"All British food is bland"
|
Another bullshit argument Another bullshit statement Another tedious unaware, ignorant American
Why is it seemingly Ok to slag off the UK (incorrectly) But if you rebuff or challenge an American citizen on their country's lifestyle they feel like you're anti American
For the record - US food is generally salty or sweet - because the yanks have immature palates - and the FDA seems to be happy poisoning the population
So UK food - bland?

Traditional British food is bland because our cool climate and advanced technology meant that we didn't have to coat it in tons of salt or spices to disguise the fact that it was usually half-rotten and tasted horrible.
However, we have embraced all sorts of spicy tastes that we have discovered in the world's primitive and sun-blasted shit-holes.
We should take the remark as a compliment.

I have looked at quite a few recipes for American dishes and was put off making them because they all seem to require the addition of various forms of sugar syrups and I am not a toddler anymore.

I am presuming that luminous thing Americans call cheese is illegal in this country except for use in repairing tractor tyres

I suppose a glorious and subtle dish like steak and kidney pudding would seem bland to people who habitually pour syrup on their breakfast bacon.

Whoever made the bland statement will surely be willing to try a 'bland' meat vindaloo then.

The best thing about British culture is that adopts and improves on what its taken from around the world....that includes the food.
